Definition: Was ist 'Composition' im Bereich Stahlproduktion und Stahlhandel?

Der Begriff Composition bezieht sich hauptsächlich auf die genaue Zusammensetzung unterschiedlicher Elemente, die in Stahl enthalten sind. Wie du vielleicht weißt, ist Stahl nicht einfach Stahl. Die Composition von Stahl ist von zentraler Bedeutung, weil sie bestimmt, wie der Stahl sich verhält. Sie beeinflusst, wie hart oder weich, wie biegsam oder bruchfest der Stahl ist. Aber auch, wie gut er sich verarbeiten lässt, wie schnell er rostet und vieles mehr. Die passende Composition zu wählen, ist daher eine der wichtigsten Entscheidungen bei der Stahlproduktion.

Was bestimmt die 'Composition' des Stahls?

Zuallererst ist es der Anteil von Kohlenstoff im Stahl, der seine grundlegenden Eigenschaften bestimmt. Daher unterscheiden wir zwischen Kohlenstoffstahl und verschiedenen Legierungsstählen. Bei den Legierungsstählen kommen dann noch andere Elemente hinzu, die in der Composition festgelegt sind. Dazu gehören zum Beispiel Chrom, Nickel oder Mangan, aber auch viele andere. Jedes dieser Elemente hat einen eigenen Einfluss auf die Eigenschaften des Stahls.

Auch im Stahlhandel ist die Composition ein zentraler Begriff. Denn beim Kauf von Stahl muss genau feststehen, welche Eigenschaften der Stahl mitbringen soll. Daher wird in den Kaufverträgen die Composition des Stahls genau festgelegt. Ist der gelieferte Stahl nicht wie vereinbart zusammengesetzt, liegt eine Vertragsverletzung vor.
