Was ist Erz (Ore)?
Die Herstellung und der Handel von Stahl ist ein komplexer Prozess, der verschiedene Elemente und Materialien einschließt. Ein zentrales Element ist das Erz. In einfachen Worten bezeichnet Erz einen natürlich vorkommenden Feststoff, der wertvolle Mineralien oder Metalle enthält, die durch Bergbau oder ähnliche Methoden extrahiert werden können. Oft handelt es sich dabei um Eisen, das später zur Erzeugung von Stahl genutzt wird.
Die Rolle von Erz in der Stahlproduktion
In der Stahlherstellung spielt Erz eine herausragende Rolle. Eisenabbau ist der erste Schritt in der Produktion von Stahl. Hier bildet das Erz, genauer gesagt das Eisenerz, den Ausgangspunkt. Es wird in großen Mengen aus der Erde gefördert und anschließend in einem Hoch- oder Schachtofen geschmolzen. Dieser Prozess wird als Röstung oder Reduktion bezeichnet. Dabei entweicht das im Erz gebundene Sauerstoff und zurück bleibt Roheisen. In weiteren Schritten wird aus diesem Roheisen Stahl hergestellt.
Erz im Stahlhandel
Ohne Erz gäbe es keinen Stahlhandel. Der Preis für Stahl ist über viele Faktoren, unter anderem den Preis für Eisenerz, verknüpft. Denn das Erz ist der wichtigste Rohstoff für die Stahlherstellung. Ein steigender Preis für Eisenerz kann daher den Preis für Stahl steigen lassen und hat starke Auswirkungen auf die gesamte Stahlindustrie. Daher ist die fortlaufende Beobachtung und Analyse der Erzpreise ein relevantes Element für Stahlhersteller und -händler auf der ganzen Welt.
