Was ist Steel?

Unter Steel, also Stahl, versteht man eine legierte oder unlegierte Eisenbasis-Mischung. Mit Kohlenstoff als Hauptlegierungselement, ist Stahl eine der tragenden Säulen der modernen Industrie und Architektur.

Herstellung von Steel

Die Produktion von Stahl startet bei Eisen-Erzen, die in einem ersten Schritt zu Roheisen verarbeitet werden. Durch den Prozess der Stahlerzeugung wird dieses Roheisen schließlich in Stahl umgewandelt. Durch verschiedenste Methoden, wie etwa dem Oxygenstahlverfahren, wird der Kohlenstoffgehalt gezielt reduziert und gegebenenfalls extra Elemente hinzugefügt, um eigenschaften des Stahls gezielt zu verändern.

Handel mit Steel

Der Stahlhandel ist ein globaler Markt mit vielen Marktteilnehmern. Steel wird von Stahlwerken produziert und an Händler verkauft, die den Steel dann an Firmen aus der Bauindustrie, Fahrzeugbaubranche oder auch im Maschinenbau weiterverkaufen. Der Preis für Steel wird durch Angebot und Nachfrage bestimmt, ist aber auch von anderen Faktoren wie Produktionkosten, Recyclingraten und weltweiten wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen beeinflusst.

Verschiedene Sorten von Steel

Es gibt eine Vielfalt an Stahlsorten. Diese unterscheiden sich in ihrer Zusammensetzung und dadurch ergeben sich unterschiedliche physische Eigenschaften wie Härte, Zähigkeit oder auch die Korrosionsbeständigkeit. So gibt es etwa Baustahl, Edelstahl, Werkzeugstahl und viele andere. Jede Stahlsorte hat spezielle Eigenschaften, welche sie für bestimmte Verwendungen prädestiniert.

Zukunft des Steel

Die Nachfrage nach Steel ist nach wie vor hoch und zukünftige Innovationen, besonders in Hinsicht auf die Vermeidung von CO2-Emissionen bei der Stahl-Produktion, machen Steel zu einem äußerst relevanten Werkstoff auch in der Zukunft. Durch neue Technologien und Prozesse kann Steel zudem immer mehr recycelt und wiederverwendet werden, was seine Nachhaltigkeit weiter erhöht.
