Was ist ein Protective Coating?

Ein Protective Coating ist eine Schicht oder eine Reihe von Schichten, die auf eine Oberfläche aufgetragen werden, um diese vor schädlichen Einflüssen zu schützen. In der Stahlproduktion und im Stahlhandel spielt die Anwendung schützender Beschichtungen eine entscheidende Rolle. Sie tragen dazu bei, dass das Material länger haltbar und widerstandsfähig gegen verschiedene Wettereinflüsse, Korrosion und Abnutzung ist.

Wozu dient ein Protective Coating in der Stahlproduktion und im Stahlhandel?

Zum einen dient ein Protective Coating dazu, Stahl vor Korrosion zu schützen. Korrosion ist ein natürlicher Prozess, der auftritt, wenn Stahl mit Sauerstoff und Wasser in Berührung kommt und dessen strukturelle Integrität nach und nach abbaut. Um diesen Prozess zu verhindern, wird eine schützende Schicht auf den Stahl aufgetragen.

Zum anderen hilft eine schützende Beschichtung, den Stahl vor mechanischer Abnutzung zu bewahren. Je nach Einsatzbereich und Umgebung kann Stahl verschiedenen Einflüssen ausgesetzt sein, die dazu führen können, dass er sich im Laufe der Zeit abnutzt. Eine schützende Beschichtung hilft, diesen Verschleiß zu vermindern und die Lebensdauer des Stahls zu verlängern.

Die Wahl der richtigen Beschichtung hängt von den spezifischen Anforderungen des Stahls ab, wie zum Beispiel der Art der Umgebung, in der er verwendet wird, und den spezifischen Belastungen, denen er ausgesetzt ist.
